This year we have found 2 clinical trials at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center that we will be supporting. They are led by Dr. Michael Kharas and Dr. Richard J. O’Reilly/ Dr. Guenther Koehne, respectively.

Step by Step: Stem Cell Approach Provides New Models for Studying How Acute Myeloid Leukemia Progresses
Dr. Michael Kharas’s study provides a new method on how we study acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and better understand the step-by-step progression of this disease. In this study, Dr. Khara’s team will be able to produce a series of models that replicate each stage of AML. This provides an important new tool for developing drugs to treat AML, as well as for finding ways to control and manage other pre-leukemic blood diseases like myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). Phase II -Transplants from Donors, with T-cell Depleted Peripheral Blood Stem Cells using CliniMACS System for Patients with Hematologic Malignancies and Disorders
Dr. Richard J. O’Reilly & Dr. Guenther Koehne’s study is focused on combating graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) which is a complication from stem cell transplantation. GvHD is caused when cells from the donor view the recipient’s cells as foreign, resulting in symptoms such as rash, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting, among others.
