On Monday September 16th, Layups 4 Life co-hosted the inaugural ‘Drive Out Cancer’ charity golf outing at Galloping Hill Country Club. Working in tandem with Cheryl Bonder of Marigold Health and Wellness, the outing hosted 10 foursomes on a day where the weather was perfect for golf.
After 18 holes, participants were treated to a BBQ lunch along with an opportunity to win raffle prizes and bid on silent auction items provided by Grand Stand Sports.
The winning foursome of the day was ‘Savages in that Tee Box’ (pictured above). Members of this foursome included Michael Spagnolo, Joe Rec, Kyle Edwards and Michael Baker.
With the funds raised from this event, $4,000 will be donated to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center/Weill Cornell Medical Center to support the continued research and advancement of clinical trials for a drug called PU-H71. This drug was developed at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and targets an altered version of a protein that some Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) cells need to grow.
